The Real Problem with Shagle's Pricing
Shagle is a functional random chat platform, but its pricing strategy is aggressive. The free tier gives you basic random matching — but without a country filter, without gender preferences, and with regular popup interruptions pushing you toward premium.
Their premium starts at $12.99 per week — that's over $50 per month for features like gender filter and "verified" badges. For context, most streaming services cost $10-15/month. Shagle charges 3-5x more for what is essentially a filter on a free chat service.
ChatWithStrangers takes a fundamentally different approach. The country filter is free for everyone. Interest matching is free. The friend system is free. In-chat games are free. The premium tier exists for power users who want the gender filter and priority matching, but it's priced at a fraction of Shagle's cost. And you'll never see a popup interrupting your conversation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why are people leaving Shagle?
The most common complaints about Shagle are: expensive premium plans ($12.99/week for full features), aggressive upselling during chat, gender filter locked behind premium, limited text chat capabilities, and high bot presence in the free tier.
What does ChatWithStrangers offer that Shagle doesn't?
Free country filter (Shagle charges), interest-based matching (Shagle doesn't have), in-chat games (Truth or Dare, Trivia — exclusive to CWS), a permanent friend system with message history (Shagle doesn't have), and a text-first architecture.
Is the gender filter free on ChatWithStrangers?
The gender filter is a premium feature on ChatWithStrangers. However, the price is significantly lower than Shagle's premium. And unlike Shagle, the country filter and interest tags are completely free — no paywall.
How much does Shagle premium cost?
Shagle's premium ranges from $12.99/week to $6.99/week depending on the plan length. That's $28-52 per month for features like gender filter and verified badges. ChatWithStrangers offers more free features than Shagle's premium tier.
Is ChatWithStrangers as big as Shagle?
ChatWithStrangers serves over 2 million monthly users across 190+ countries. While Shagle has a large established user base, CWS has been growing rapidly, especially in the text-chat segment. Average match time is under 10 seconds.
Does ChatWithStrangers have video chat?
Yes. Both text and video modes are available. The key difference is that text mode is a fully-featured first-class experience on CWS, while Shagle treats text as secondary to video.
Is it really free?
Core features are 100% free: text chat, matching, country filter, interest tags, friend system, games. There is an optional premium tier at a fraction of Shagle's price. You will never be interrupted by upsell popups during a conversation.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Zero signup required. No email, no phone number, no profile photo. You open the URL and start chatting within seconds. Shagle also allows guest access, but pushes account creation for features.
